About Itarsi

Itarsi which derived its name from Intt (brick) and rassi (rope) which were the main products traded in & around the town. It is a small city located in the Madhya Pradesh of Central India and forms a part of Hoshangabad District. Itarsi is well-known for its railway junction and thus forms a commercial hub for agricultural goods. The pride of Itarsi is an Ordnance Factory, under the Ordnance Factories Board which manufactures products for the Indian Armed Forces. Other famous places of Itarsi include Bori Wildlife Sanctuary & Tawa Dam which are situated near to the Ordnance Factory. Today instead of the earlier trade of of "intt" and "rassi’ plywood factories are the most prevalent business in this region.

Monsoon begins from the month of July and lasts up-to September with maximum rainfall of the District being 326.4 mm. In winters the temperatures range from 11°C to 19°C. The coldest months being December and January.
